Our Beliefs

Verbal Inspiration of Scripture

We believe in the infallible, inspired Word of God. We believe the King James Bible to be the inerrant, preserved, infallible, inspired Word of God for the English-speaking people. The Old and New Testament Scriptures were written by human authors, divinely inspired and edited by the Holy Spirit, preserved, unbroken, and passed down to us today.

2 Timothy 3:16, John 10:35, 2 Peter 1:19-21, and Psalm 119:89

Genesis Account of Creation

We believe that in six literal 24-hour days God directly created, out of nothing, the universe and all that is in it, including mankind, as literally described in Genesis chapters one and two. All theories of evolution, secular or religious, not only deny specific, observable natural law but also deny the veracity of the Scriptures and undermine the rightful authority of God over His own creation.

Genesis 1 & 2, Exodus 20:11, Isaiah 45:11-12, Isaiah 45:18, John 1:3, Romans 1:18-22, Romans 5:12, Colossians 1:16-17, Hebrews 1:2-3, Hebrews 1:10, Hebrews 11:3, and Revelation 4:11

Trinity

We believe God is a Person, eternally existing. There is one true God, existing in the unity of the Godhead. There are three eternal and coequal Persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. There is one Godhead made up of three Persons who are the same in attributes, power, characteristics, and desires.

1 John 5:7, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28:19, Romans 1:7, Hebrews 1:8, Acts 5:1-3, Matthew 28:19, and 1 Corinthians 8:6

Deity

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because of His character, His miracles, His influence, His power to forgive sins and set people free from Satan, and because He claimed to be and died, making this claim and arose victorious over death.

Mark 12:6, John 5:22, John 5:23, Matthew 26:63, Matthew 26:66, John 14:9, John 1:1, Hebrews 1:8, John 20:28, Romans 9:5, and 1 John 5:1-5

Virgin Birth

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been begotten by the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, Luke 1:35, John 1:1-2, John 1:14, 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, Galatians 4:4-5, and Philippians 2:5-8

Substitutionary Death of Christ

Jesus took the sinner's place, bore his sins, and met the penalty through His substitutionary death for all men. Jesus satisfied the law, becoming our accepted substitute. His righteousness, or His right doing, is imputed to us by faith. Therefore, we have, through Him, kept the law. Instead of merely covering the sins of man, the blood of Christ cleanses man from his sins.

Isaiah 53:5, Acts 20:28, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 9:28, 1 Peter 3:18, and Matthew 26:28

Salvation by Grace through Faith

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins and that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process.

John 1:12, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10, and 1 Peter 1:18-19

Heaven, Hell, and the Lake of Fire

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men—the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.

Matthew 25:46, John 5:28-29, John 11:25-26, Revelation 20:5-6, and Revelation 20:12-13

We believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord.

Luke 23:43, 2 Corinthians 5:8, Philippians 1:23, Philippians 3:21, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, and Revelation 20:4-6

We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection when, with soul and body reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment.

Matthew 25:41-46, Mark 9:43-48 Luke 16:19-26, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Jude 6-7, and Revelation 20:11-15

Depravity of Man

By nature, man is wicked and corrupt. All are under sin. Romans 3:10 proves that all are alike under sin in an unregenerate condition.

Genesis 6:5, Job 15:16, Psalm 14:3, Isaiah 1:6, Jeremiah 16:12, Matthew 23:27, Romans 1:24, and 2 Peter 2:12

Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost ministers to the Christian. He regenerates, baptizes (not with water), indwells, seals, and fills the saved. The believer does not get more of the Holy Ghost, but the Holy Ghost gets more of the believer. Therefore, these ministries of the Holy Ghost happen instantaneously to the new believer. They all occur by faith and are not in the least dependent upon one's personal emotional feelings at the time.

1 Corinthians 14:33, Titus 3:5, Romans 5:3-4, Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 3:16, and 2 Corinthians 1:22

Separation from the World

We believe that all the saved are called into a life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices. Once he has accepted Christ as Saviour, a person is a new creation in Christ and should live a holy, consecrated life in every area. He should separate himself from the world and all its lust in obedience to the command of God. Separation from the world is not only abstaining from worldly practices, but also conforming to biblical standards in conduct, appearance, conversation, practice, and character.

Romans 12:1-2, 1 John 2:15-17, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, Colossians 2:6, 1 Peter 2:9, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Timothy 2:19, and 1 Timothy 4:12

Rapture and Second Coming

We believe in the personal, imminent return of Christ. The rapture is prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom, which was promised to the nation of Israel.

Psalm 89:3-4, Daniel 2:31-45, Zechariah 14:4-11, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Titus 2:13, Revelation 3:10, Revelations 19:11-16, and Revelations 20:1-6

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe there are two ordinances of the local church. They are baptism and the Lord's Supper. Scriptural baptism is the immersion of believers in water, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, administered by the authority of a New Testament Church and is a prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation and the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a memorial ordinance of the local church according to the individual examinations and teaching of I Corinthians 11:17-34. The unleavened bread and fruit of the vine, grape juice, are to commemorate the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Acts 8:38 and Mark 1:9-10

Devil or Satan

We believe in the personality of Satan; that he is the god of this world, blinding the minds of those who believe not, and the author of all the power of darkness. We believe that Satan was once holy and enjoyed heavenly honors. But, through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, he fell and drew after him a host of angels. Satan is the author of all false religions, the chief power of darkness—destined to the judgment of eternal justice in the Lake of Fire, a place prepared for him and the fallen angels.

Matthew 4:1-3, Revelation 20:1-3, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, Revelation 20:10, 1 Peter 5:8, Isaiah 14:12-15, and Ezekiel 28:14-17

Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He arose bodily “the third day according to the scriptures” from the tomb, ascended bodily into the heavens, and through His resurrection, a sure hope of immortality and everlasting life is given to all saved by His grace. He is at the right hand of God as our “Mediator, merciful and faithful High Priest, and advocate.”

John 20, Hebrews 9:24, 1 Corinthians 15:12- 28, Luke 24:1-7, and Romans 4:25

Eternal Security

We believe in the eternal security of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. A person who is born again has everlasting life, which never ends and cannot be taken away. Saved forever, God's children are kept by the power of God through faith unto eternal salvation and sealed until the day of redemption.

John 10:27-30, 1 Peter 1:5, Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:35-39, and John 5:24

Soul Winning and Missions

We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all people so there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to all people and not wait for them to come to us.

Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-48, John 20:21, Acts 1:8, and 2 Corinthians 5:20

Sanctification

We believe that sanctification is a personal separation from things that are unclean to things that are holy, clean, and sacred. Sanctification is a progressive work that begins in regeneration and is carried on in the hearts of the believers by the presence and power of the Holy Ghost. The believer's sanctification will be complete at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The soul and spirit are sanctified at salvation. The body will be sanctified in glory.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-10, 1 Thessalonians 5:23;, 1 Corinthians 6:11, 2 Peter 3:18, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, and Romans 8:5

Local Church

We believe that a scriptural church is a visible assembly of baptized believers who covenant together under New Testament law to carry out the Great Commission, with an unbroken history from the personal ministry of Jesus on earth to this present day. This church is a self-governed, independent body with Christ as the head, the Holy Ghost as its guide, and the Bible as the only foundation of faith and practice. The only scriptural offices of the church are the Bishop (or Pastor) and Deacons. The two ordinances of the local church are baptism and the Lord's Supper. On all matters of membership, polity, government, discipline, benevolence, etc., the authority of the local church is final.

Mark 16:15, Ephesians 1:22-23, 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and Acts 20:17-20

Music

Music is a God-given method of worship and praise. And as such, should only be practiced in a way that completely conforms to the teaching of Scripture. We reject the idea that as long as the lyrics speak praise to God that the music itself is of no consequence. We believe that the vessel for praise and worship must be pure and holy. We are to worship the Lord “in spirit and in truth.” We believe that music should minister to the soul and spirit, not the flesh alone. We believe in a conservative, old-time songs and hymns music program for the local church.

Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16

Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one, legitimate meaning: marriage sanctioned by God, which joins one man and one woman in a single, covenantal union, as delineated by Scripture. Marriage ceremonies performed in any facility owned, leased, subleased or rented by this church will be only those ceremonies sanctioned by God, joining one man with one woman. An individual's gender at birth reflects God's perfect purpose and design for that person and is therefore the only gender we will recognize. Whenever there is a conflict between the church's position and any new legal standard for marriage, the church's Statement of Faith, doctrines, and biblical positions will govern.

Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, Ephesians 5:22-23, and 1 Corinthians 7:1-9

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage as defined immediately above. We believe that any other type of sexual activity, identity, orientation, or expression that lies outside of this definition of marriage are sinful perversions of and contradictory to God's natural design and purpose for sexual activity.

Genesis 2:24, Genesis 19:5, Leviticus 18:1-30, Romans 1: 26-29, 1 Corinthians 5:1, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, and Hebrews 13:4

Unchaste Conduct

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate physical activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography is a sinful perversion of God's original intent for a physical relationship between a husband and wife.

Genesis 2:24;, Genesis 19:5&13, Genesis 26:8-9, Leviticus 18:1-30, Romans 1:26-29, 1 Corinthians 5:1 and 1 Corinthians 6:9

Abortion

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, inexcusable taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the mental well-being of the mother are acceptable.

Job 3:16, Psalm 51:5, Psalm 139:14-16, Isaiah 44:24, Isaiah 49:1&5, Jeremiah 1:5, Jeremiah 20:15-18, and Luke 1:44

Lawsuits Between Believers

We believe that Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians or the church to resolve personal disputes. We believe the church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members. We do believe, however, that a Christian may seek compensation for injuries from another Christian's insurance company as long as the claim is pursued without malice or slander.

1 Corinthians 6:1-8 and Ephesians 4:31-32

Giving

We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God's wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church financially. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of the tithe or offering once the gift has been made.

Genesis 14:20, Proverbs 3:9-10, Acts 4:34-37, 1 Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Galatians 6:6, Ephesians 4:28, 1 Timothy 5:17-18, and 1 John 3:17

The Home

We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and the church. The husband is to be the leader of the home, and men are to be the leaders (pastors and deacons) of the church. Accordingly, only men are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church.

Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:18, 1 Timothy 2:8-15, 1 Timothy 3:4-5, and1 Timothy 3:12

We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church. The wife is to submit herself to the scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” Psalm 127:3 and are to obey their parents. Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them, through a consistent lifestyle example and appropriate training and discipline.

Genesis 1:27-28, Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalms 127:3-5, Proverbs 19:18, Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 23:13-14, Mark 10:6-12, 1 Corinthians 7:1-16, Ephesians 5:21-33, Ephesians 6:1-4, Colossians 3:18-21, Hebrews 13:4, and 1 Peter 3:1-7

Divorce

We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon.

Malachi 2:14-17, Matthew 19:3-12, Romans 7:1-3, 1 Timothy 3:2, 1 Timothy 3:12, and Titus 1:6

Civil Government

We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: (1) the home, (2) the church, and (3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and are governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and has balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God.

Romans 13:1-7, Ephesians 5:22-24, Hebrews 13:17, and 1 Peter 2:13-14
